@Mattias Gronborg Ironically, I felt the same way many people say they do when you try to convince them to get on Gogle+ - "not another platform!"

Also, becasue it's so visual, it took me a little while to come up with a way to make it effective for me.

I still think that it has more value as a personal platform; sharing best photos, art music etc.

But I'm seeing more Infograpgh and design boards.

Can't deny its popularity. Not just to make time for it - might have to drop Facebook :-)

I love this Ray. What a great story. Yes, I resonate with stories about how building relationships with those who are real and it's what I do as well. No time for the fake and phony. Cheers, Ray.

You make a very good point about person to person engagement. I came across a really good exchange between a customer and a vendor on a popular online retailer web site. The customer was complaining about an item in the review section of the and the person in charge of responding did so in such a warm and personable manner that I remember thinking 'yeah, that's how it should work.' There was no defence of the product in question, no selling, but instead it was more like a good friend offering solutions. If businesses can master that, they'll surely have something to offer in social media.

@DaveGallant Thanks, Dave.

One of the reasons that I like G+ is because it's the engaging platform for me.

The more you share and participate, the more profile you have. If someone enjoys your posts, they can put you in a circle of "engagers" for example, then share that circle with their followers.

It was in this way that my follower count (number of people circling me) increased by nearly a thousand in a couple of days.

As far as SEO goes, number of +1's has the biggest weight. And as you know, they're everywhere (or soon will be).

Now, I have to look at Pinterest more. I think there is a way of using in with G+ because of the visual element.

Once again, thanks for the encouragement.

This is an impressive write up. As I'm reading through I realized that you've become "top of mind" now for whenever I have a Google+ question. And I very rarely see anyone writing articles like these for Google+.

I thought number two was interesting. It is easier to build a bigger following on Google+, and I had not really thought about it from the SEO perspective.

Great post!

@luislondon Thanks, Luis! I'm not a big fan of syncing the same content over all your platforms. Different people use different ones so content has to reflect that.

@Mattias Gronborg Thanks for dropping by, Mattias. Facebook meets the needs of many people. especially those that use it to connect with family and friends.

Brands like it FB because people are there and people look for recommendations before they buy.

Google+ will extend its reach by simply being everywhere. Right now, brands are building pages because they are aware of the SEO benefits.

As Guy Kawasaki says: People go on Facebook to follow their friends. They go on Google+ to follow their passions.
